The Paediatric Respiratory Clinic provides specialised care for patients with severe eosinophilic asthma receiving biologic treatments (Omalizumab, Mepolizumab, and Benralizumab).

A referral is required from either a GP or a specialist. This service is free of charge and patients are triaged based on priority.

Ngāti Hine Health Trust provides comprehensive asthma management services, including diagnosis and treatment, education, self-management plans, continuity of care, health promotion, ongoing assessments, and referrals.

They also offer Rongoā Māori, with traditional Māori hauora clinics in Whangārei and Kawakawa. These clinics feature mirimiri (healing massage), karakia, and a space for whānau to whakawhitiwhiti kōrero (share stories).

Super clinics: Manukau and Botany

The Super Clinics in Manukau and Botany provide comprehensive outpatient services for individuals with respiratory conditions. The Respiratory Unit includes specialised clinics for:

  • Sleep Disorders

  • Oxygen Therapy

  • Asthma and Severe Asthma

  • COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)

  • CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure)

They also offer lung function testing, including spirometry, to assess and monitor your respiratory health.

Koira 4 Rukahukahu: Lungs 4 Life is a community-based, nurse-led programme aimed at reducing inequities in respiratory health outcomes for tamariki across the Northern region.

The programme focuses on early intervention for children at high risk of developing bronchiectasis or other preventable respiratory conditions.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Tamariki under 2 years old who have had three or more hospital admissions due to lower respiratory tract infections (bronchiolitis, bronchopneumonia, pneumonia, or pertussis).

  • Tamariki deemed high clinical risk by a senior medical officer (SMO).
