Asthma Waikato’s mission is to free people from asthma through expert education and advocacy, enabling a life full of possibilities. 

They provide asthma education for children aged 0-15 years, including clinical assessments, home visits, and virtual appointments. Asthma Waikato also offers professional development courses for healthcare providers, including Spirometry training and recertification.

You can self-refer or be referred by a hospital or GP.

Asthma Bay of Plenty is a leading provider of asthma education in the Bay of Plenty, dedicated to helping individuals breathe easier and improve their quality of life.

Their services include personalised asthma education, spirometry testing, FeNO assessments, rehabilitation programs, and community outreach—all provided free of charge.

A referral from your GP is required to access their services.

Breathe Hawke’s Bay provides clinical and support services for individuals with respiratory conditions such as asthma and COPD, including dedicated COPD support groups.

They offer education, spirometry testing, and professional development for nurses.

Respiratory Support Nelson supports people with respiratory conditions (and their whanau) to improve their quality of life through education, community support and advocacy. 

They offer pulmonary rehabilitation, support groups, breathing classes and health professional education on asthma and COPD.

Tu Kotahi Māori Asthma Trust works alongside whānau to promote understanding and effective management of asthma and respiratory conditions. As a grassroots, whānau-centered organisation, they are dedicated to meeting the needs of Māori. 

They provide free education on asthma, COPD, and bronchiolitis, as well as spirometry testing to support better respiratory health.

CanBreathe / Canterbury Asthma Society provides free services to improve the quality of life for individuals with asthma, COPD, and bronchiectasis.

They work directly with the community, offering education and support to individuals, families, groups, and healthcare professionals to enhance health outcomes and overall well-being.

Asthma Otago provides free education and support for individuals and their whānau living with respiratory conditions.

Their services include one-on-one education, smoking cessation support, written information on lung conditions and medications, nebuliser hire, and exercise classes, which are available in Dunedin and Waikouaiti only.

Te Manu Toroa Respiratory Services provides a free community-based service for children and adolescents with asthma and other respiratory conditions. Their goal is to empower tamariki with the knowledge and skills to manage their asthma effectively, ensuring early intervention, prevention, and ongoing care. They offer respiratory education, support groups, and spirometry testing.

Referrals are accepted from GPs, primary care providers, secondary and tertiary health services, and other health or social services. Self and whānau referrals are also welcome.
