GSK Travel Scholarship for ERS-Madrid 2019

GSK Travel Scholarship for ERS-Madrid 2019 – Health practitioner with specialist respiratory interest/ respiratory and or community nurses specialists.

Deadline for application: 28 July 2019.

Aim: This award will support two people to attend the European Respiratory Society International Congress, ERS 2019 to be held in Madrid, Spain between 28 September and 2 October 2019.

Asthma NZ encourage doctors, nurses, medical researchers and nurse educators specialising in respiratory health, particularly that of Asthma and COPD to submit their application.

The recipient will be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident who currently resides in New Zealand. This is a travel award is to cover economy return flights, accommodation for ERS and registration.

 

Please include in your application the following:

  • A statement of your involvement in respiratory medicine and the benefit of this award to your career development (one A4 page maximum)
  • A track record (maximum two A4 pages)
  • A personal statement as to how you would use this opportunity to improve knowledge & understanding within the NZ Respiratory Community.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Be vocationally trained General Practitioner (FRNZCGP) or respiratory nurse specialist.
  2. Be a citizen or permanent resident of New Zealand.
  3. Be a health practitioner:
  • Have demonstrated research interest in respiratory health with a track history of published work and/or research experience,
  • Have excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health and science professionals,
  • Have an ongoing commitment to further education and professional development, and the opportunity to promote education in the area of asthma and respiratory disease to vocational peers.

Conditions:

The following conditions must be meet by members receiving this award:

  • The award must be used for the ERS International Congress which will be held in Madrid, Spain between 28 September and 2 October 2019.
  • A report summarising the outcomes of the travel must be provided to Asthma New Zealand two months after completing the travel.
  • At least one presentation to Respiratory professionals must be scheduled within 6-months of returning

 

Note: These conditions must be met to remain eligible for future award rounds.
